A Cleaner Future

Cheaper energy and more jobs with our new energy plan for Queensland

The Queensland Government has a new plan to deliver cheaper, cleaner and secure energy across our state.

The cheapest form of new energy generation is renewables, which is why we’re investing in renewables to help make power prices cheaper for Queenslanders.

Under our new plan, by 2032 70% of Queensland’s energy supply will be renewable, and by 2035, it will be 80%.

We’re setting up Queensland’s economy for the future — and creating new jobs.

West of Mackay in North Queensland, we will build the world’s biggest pumped hydro which will supply half of our state’s entire energy needs.

The Pioneer-Burdekin mega project has the potential generation capacity 2.5 times that of Snowy 2.0 in New South Wales.

It will be part of creating Australia’s largest energy SuperGrid by transporting renewable energy from the regions to power industries and households.

Across Queensland, new jobs will be created in hydrogen, renewables, manufacturing and critical minerals.

Our Queensland Energy and Jobs Plan will help keep Queensland’s energy assets in public hands for the future and maintain 100% public ownership of deep storage, transmission, and distribution.

This is the biggest investment in clean energy and emissions reduction in Australia’s history and  we’re delivering it now.
