It’s Time to Get Ready for Disaster Season

Get Ready Queensland Week Launched

It’s the time of year when all Toohey residents are reminded to Get Ready for extreme
weather.

Get Ready Queensland Week launched Monday 9 October, with Rugby League legend and Get Ready Queensland Ambassador Jonathon Thurston encouraging households to plan to stay safe when the weather turns bad.

Whether it’s bushfires, storms, cyclones or floods, getting ready is something all
Queenslanders can do, no matter if they’re new to an area or have lived in their property
for years; a homeowner or renting.

As the Member for Toohey, I urge every local resident to use Get Ready Queensland Week as an opportunity to
prepare your family and property for the upcoming disaster season.

 Get Ready Queensland Week runs Monday 9 October to Saturday 15 October.
 All Queenslanders are being reminded to Get Ready by understanding their risk,
making a plan and packing an emergency kit.
 Get Ready Queensland is the state government’s year-round, all-hazards,
resilience building initiative, delivered by the Queensland Reconstruction Authority.

Remember: It takes just seconds to sign up for weather notifications from the Bureau of
Meteorology.

Details on how to Get Ready are available here.
